I grew up in Springfield, went to SMSU and lived in Kansas City and Denver before moving to Moberly after getting married. I have a yoga studio there and am continuing my journey as a CrossFit coach. I love all things outdoors, I love to travel and watch my kids play their chosen sports.
I was not much of an athlete growing up and didn’t find fitness until later in life. After having kids, I completed 23 half marathons and 1 full marathon before moving onto Triathlons but found that the time needed to train was hard to find as a full-time working mom. After reading the book “Roar” by Dr. Stacy Simms, who touted CrossFit as a great format for women’s fitness. As luck would have it, a CrossFit gym was opening in my town, so I gave it a shot and was instantly hooked.
I love the “functional fitness” aspect of CrossFit. It takes the movement of everyday activities and puts them into a high intensity, competitive format incorporating a variety of equipment and movements in the workouts so you never get bored. Watching members find perfect form and improve strength and fitness is so rewarding. Getting to motivate people through the tough stuff is such a form of dopamine for me!
